James Webb Space Telescope Tours
Dear VCAS Visitors to JWST,
JWST Program Management has announced that the JWST observation areas will be closed to all visitors, including both employees and non-employees, during January 2020.
Tours 37, 38, 39, and 40 (January 6, 13, 20, and 27) are therefore canceled.
I have requested JWST Tours 41, 42, and 43 for February 10, 17, and 24, but have not received confirmation. I understand that a full deployment test of the primary mirror may occur during February. After that, the spacecraft will be removed from Building M8 for environmental testing for about two months and should return and be visible again during Summer 2020.
As always, thanks for your patience and understanding. I'll continue to keep you informed of any changes. We can anticipate such fluctuations as schedule pressure mounts this coming final year before scheduled launch in 2021.
Again, if you have registered on behalf of other persons, please forward this information to them. Thanks!
